"I want to look like myself, but better!" Said every bride that comes through my door. This is the #1 statement my brides tell me when I ask them how they want to look or feel for their special day. Of course it can be interpreted in so many ways, but when you have been doing what I do for over 10 years... you get a pretty good idea of how to make your brides drop dead gorgeous.
So with that being said How do you Make someone look like themselves, but BETTER?
This task starts off with Skincare. If you have been a long time reader of my blog post, than you know I'm all about SKIN. It truly can make or break a good makeup application. If your skin is supple then you will have that bridal glow that Every bride wants for their big day.
What's the bridal glow, you ask. Well it's the inner glow that all brides have that makes them look like a newborn kitten(just cute and fierce in their own way). Don't we all want that look!
Drink more Water
Sure we have heard this one over and over again. If you grew up in my household and had a mother like mine, than you've heard this one. But drinking water can truly make your skin more radiant. It's recommended to drink a least 8 cups of water a day, but you can also eat fruits and veggies that have a higher water content in them like celery, cucumbers and strawberries.
Exercise
Now I'm not going to lie this one was so hard for me when I was engaged. I'm a big girl, enough said. I would work out 2-3 times out of the week, mostly walking or doing just dance. If I was breaking a sweat I was happy with that. I would say that I noticed my skin undergo changes when I started to work out. Not only did my mood change, but By exercising my complexion was improving and so was my acne. This was a win win for me.
Eat Healthy-er
Everytime I would work out I would use it as an excuse to make a smoothie. I would make a strawberry, blackberry, blueberry and greek yogurt smoothie. The foods I mentioned previously are high in Antioxidants and Omega-3. By eating these super foods, I was helping my body get rid of toxins. Which contributed in giving my skin the extra glow that it needed.
Some other foods you can incorporate in your diet are nuts, chia seeds, fish, avocados, cabbage and green tea.
Regular exfoliation
Dead skin cells can accumulate on the skin and can wreak havoc, if left untreated. By exfoliating regular you are removing dead skin cells and allowing new skin cells to surface. which makes a brighter skin complexion. Exfoliating also removed any dirt or debris that your cleanser could have missed.
Vitamin C Serum
Vitamin C is one of the best kept secrets out there. I always get compliments on my skin. The secret is this serum. Vitamin C has been known to produce collagen production, prevents sagging skin, reduce redness, helps fade hyperpigmentation and reduce the appearance of dark circles. To use the serum just simply exfoliate, toneer, use serum and follow with your favorite moisturizer.
No matter what steps you are wanting to go with. It all starts with skincare.
Don't believe me take a look at a few of my clients who took advantage of my skincare regimen and followed it leading up to their big day.
